The Badger Advocates are supportive of measures to provide increased flexibility and a public authority status for the University of Wisconsin-Madison in order to ensure the University is equipped to identify and recognize opportunities for cost savings, especially in light of reductions in state aid to the University due to the state’s looming budget deficit. In order to continue the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s proud tradition of first-class educational opportunities, access to all Wisconsinites, and tuition affordability for middle class families, the Badger Advocates will actively promote key budget provisions to facilitate increased accountability in each of these key areas by the creation of a public authority status.
